Chai or Tea is an inseparable part of Indian lifestyle. Morning tea is sacred for people and everyone has their own version of the chai that they enjoy. Chaayos was born in Nov 2012 after noticing a surge of coffee shops in a tea-drinking country. Today Chaayos tea room serves about 80,000 varieties of tea and is present in 6 Indian cities in 85 cafés with over 1.8 million regular customers.

WHO IS IT FOR?

The 1.8 million regular and loyal customers who knew exactly what they wanted and generally ordered the same items off the menu were key audience for the design. We enhanced their experience with features like express order (one-tap checkout), worked on adoption of Chaayos Wallet and introduced virtual social interactions to their chai drinking experience.

FEATURES

1. Express Order

Home Screen opens with “stories” by other customers and express order feature that allows users to complete their order in one-tap. The user’s would see their most frequent order on top with an option to make quick customisations. Once they are satisfied they can swipe and place the order in a matter of seconds with their Chaayos wallet.

2. 80k ways to prepare your tea

User can customise their Meri Wali Chai (My kind of tea) in about 80,000 unique ways. They can select size, amount of milk, spice add ons and how strong they want their tea. Just not that, they can save multiple Meri Wali Chai’s and other customers can try your unique tea from their personalisation page.

Since Chaayos has a big user group from people who like to work from the cafe to people who just want a chai before their meeting, users can choose to dine-in, take away or order ahead of time to beat the queue.

LoyalTea is important to regular customer as every 6th chai is on Chaayos and people can accumulate their free chais. An option to redeem the free chai is right on the checkout screen.

Payment screen offers multiple payment options with most frequently used methods on top. By design we push for Chaayos wallet so that the user can get a seamless ordering experience.

4. Profile

Profile screen offers many functionalities and gives customer stats upfront like savings, no. of visits, free chais (LoyalTea) and wallet updates. LoyalTea screen shows number of available free chais and a option to gift one to a friend. Chaayos money screen helps the user manage their wallet, cashbacks or referral rewards.

Another important feature is subscription. Users can create a chai subscription than can be tracked, paused, stopped or edited with just a tap.

5. Buzz

Once a user has placed an order, they can explore the Buzz section while they wait. The section has information on upcoming events, analytics that help them learn more about their Chaayos and video about tea and food served.

Buzz landing page highlights any upcoming events and videos. It minimises the order progress at the bottom for easy access.

User can know their Chaayos better with location specific analytics.

Videos of behind the scene and more about the tea and food. Users can also record their own video at Chaayos and post is on the platform.
